Student sedated, raped by friend

New Delhi: A 24-year-old post graduate student of a private institute was allegedly sedated, raped, video graphed and later blackmailed by an unidentified man, who she got acquainted to via WhatsApp.

The survivor, on Wednesday, approached the Ranjeet Nagar police station and registered a case in this regard. According to the complaint, the survivor hails from West Bengal and lives with her family in Shadipur. In her plaint, Yuvika (name changed) said that she came in contact with the suspect nearly four months ago. The suspect had messaged her on WhatsApp by mistake, following which the two began chatting and exchanged messages. A friendship, which had grown stronger over phone, took an ugly turn when the suspect expressed his intent to meet her. Unaware about his malicious intent, the girl readily agreed to meet him.

She further said that the two decided on a common place to meet at Rohini. The suspect, who claimed to be in love and promised that he would marry her, took her to a room in Rohini.

He then allegedly sedated her by lacing her burger. After eating it, the woman fell unconscious. As per the complainant, the man then forced upon himself on her and allegedly raped her. He also filmed the entire act and later began blackmailing her, said the police.  

The complainant found out about this when the suspect showed her an MMS clip on his laptop and threatened to upload it on a pornography site.

When the woman asked him to meet her parents, the suspect began threatening her of dire consequences.

The woman said that she pleaded him not to upload the video and created distance between them, but the man continued to threaten her. The incident came to light when unable to bear the torture, the woman told her parents and later approached the jurisdictional police station and registered a plaint.  

Ranjeet Nagar police has registered a case under relevant sections and have launched a probe into the same.
