New Delhi: Security personnel at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) had a tough day on Friday when they intercepted a man carrying a shirt fitted with some “suspicious” electric object at Terminal 3 of the IGI airport. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) detained the man and later handed him over to the Delhi police for further investigation. However, the police confirmed later that the man was carrying the shirt for his brother, who is a magician. His brother performs magic shows in Assam.

“At about 6 pm on Friday, during pre-embarkation security check (PESC) at Inner X-Ray Baggage Inspection System (XBIS) in the domestic security hold area (SHA) of Terminal-3, CISF screener noticed an image of a suspicious circuit in the handbag of a passenger travelling to Guwahati,” said a CISF official.

Kismet Ali (50) is a resident of Barpeta in Assam. The accused works in Bijnore in Western UP and was going to meet his brother in Guwahati. He told security personnel that he was going to hand over the shirt to his brother to help him perform magic tricks, said sources.

“Explosive tests were conducted, which were negative. Later, IB officials were also called in,” the official added.
