New Delhi: The Delhi police on Tuesday has filed a case against an Australian agency for allegedly issuing a fake e-tourist visa to an Australian national. The foriegn traveller, who was travelling from Bangkok to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), was allegedly stopped by the officials on Monday night.

The police said that the vicitm had arrived from Bangkok to Delhi and claimed that he lost his Indian e-visa at Brisbane airport when he was stopped by the officilas. He further said that after he learnt about his e-tourist visa being lost, he had approached an agency in Brisbane who in return issued him the fake e-Visa, which was earlier issued to a Somalian woman national.

According to sources, Teljega Steven Peter, who had arrived at IGI Airport last Monday, was having an e-visa valid from May 13 to September 14, 2017. But during immigration check, it was found that the same e-visa was issued to a Somalia national namely Maryam Hussen (a woman). On further questioning, it was found that earlier, a visa was issued to Mr Steven which was valid from May 5 to September 9 this year.

The victim further told the officials that he realised at Brisbane airport before boarding the flight that he has lost the printout of his India e-visa copy, so he approached an agency named Air Fare Expert Indoor Ooplilly. The said agency charged him 561 Australian dollars and issued him a ‘visa.’
