New Delhi: The BJP on Tuesday dem-anded CM Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation over the alleged manhandling of Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash by a few ruling AAP MLAs.

The Delhi BJP workers, led by party president Manoj Tiwari, protested at Mr Kejriwal’s residence against the violent assault on the chief secretary, which has pushed the city into an administrative crisis. The Delhi BJP alleged that the police stopped the demonstrators by using water cannon and force in addition to arresting many party workers.

Mr Tiwari described the alleged incident, which took place in the presence of Mr Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia at the chief minister’s residence, as “an act of urban Naxalism”. He sought Mr Kejriwal’s resignation, a high-level inquiry against him, and suspension of the legislators concerned.

Addressing the demonstrators Mr Tiwari said that Monday’s violent assault on the chief secretary is a repeat of the violent assault faced by the BJP delegation, which had gone to meet the chief minister on January 30.

“The confrontation bet-ween the government and the officials, as witnessed at the national capital today, is unprecedented. The continued silence of Mr Kejriwal, on the issue of misbehaviour with the chief secretary, is an evidence of his own involvement in the incident. The urban Naxalite face of Mr Kejriwal is out in the open,” said Mr Tiwari.

Former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay said that the Kejriwal government, which is going thr-ough a phase of political frustration in view of the impending defeat in the 20 Assembly bye-elections, has pushed Delhi towards a constitutional crisis.

Terming the incident a black chapter in the country’s democratic history, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said that the AAP government has now lost the right to continue to be in power. He alleged that the entire incident was a well planned and well thought out conspiracy against the bureaucracy.
