New Delhi: Unidentified men hurled stones and a piece of a wooden rod at Delhi BJP president and MP Manoj Tiwari at a public meeting in Jhanda Chowk area of Bawana on Saturday. The police said that a piece of wooden rod was hurled at Mr Tiwari during the meeting. “We are trying to identify the accused with the help of video footage of the public meeting available with the police. As per guidelines of the election commission, we record all of the public meeting or campaigning ahead of the elections,” said a senior police official.

Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP strongly condemned the attack on its president in Bawana. “It appears the political opponents sensing defeat in electoral fight and are resorting to violence.”
