New Delhi: All AAP MPs, MLAs and ministers will donate one month salary for the relief work in flood-ravaged Kerala, where 194 people have died. The Delhi government has also decided to launch a massive donation drive by opening collection centres at all the SDM offices from Sunday. Chief minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal had on Friday announced Rs 10 crore relief for the state.

In a tweet, Mr Kejriwal said, “All AAP MLAs, MPs and ministers (are) donating one month salary for Kerala.” He also appealed to the officers in the state to donate at least a day’s salary to the flood ravaged state.

At a meeting to take stock of the situation in Kerala with the state’s resident commissioner, Mr Kejriwal directed that the offices of all the SDMs would work as donation centre for the people of Delhi to send donations from where it will be sent to Kerala for the people who are affected.

The chief secretary was directed by the chief minister to get the offices double up as collection centres as soon as possible.

“The Delhi government will also issue advertisements for mass awareness in Delhi requesting people to donate generously. The people would be requested to donate blankets, clothes and bed-sheets for the affected people.

“In addition to that, he also said that the Delhi government will send huge number of bottled water, biscuits and dry food for the affected people in Kerala. He directed the officials to send the material as soon as possible,” the Delhi government said in a statement.

The CM also asked the resident commissioner to keep him apprised of the requirements in days to come. “Keep us informed, so that we can pitch in whatever is required for the affected people,” the CM was quoted telling Kerala’s resident commissioner, according to the statement.
