Ghaziabad: A 24-year-old woman working with a Noida-based call centre was allegedly shot dead by a stalker in Rajendra Nagar area of Sahibabad on Thursday afternoon. Rama Chaturvedi, from Rudrapur area of Uttarakhand, was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad district.

The incident took place at Sector 6 of Rajender Nagar, Sahibabad. The victim stays at a rented accommodation with another girl. She and her roommate were at the main gate of the house where they were staying, when two men on a bike approached her. One of the man remained on bike while the other approached the victim and opened fire on her. He fired two shots from a close range on her chest, said the police. 

“We have procured a CCTV footage in which one of the attackers was seen running away after killing the girl. A thorough probe has been ordered in the case. Five police teams have been formed to arrest the accused,” said a senior police official. Two rounds of bullets were fired at her and she died on the spot, while, both the accused are absconding.

Anoop Singh, ASP (Sahibabad) said, “She was first talking to both the accused. Suddenly, they shot her and fled. We are trying to contact her relatives for further investigation”. 

Investigations are underway and further details awaited. Rama used to work at a Call Centre in Sector 62, Noida and lived alone in Rajendra Nagar. “I was returning home from a nearby market and when I saw two men on a bike, who had their face covered, open fire at Rama and fled away,” said an eyewitness. 

The incident happened so fast that the nearby people didn’t have get any time catch them. “Everything happened in a blink of an eye. We could not chase them or note the number of their bike,” he added.
