New Delhi: In an attempt to reach out to young girls aged between 18 and 25 years, the Delhi BJP has planned to set up a “yuvti prakoshth” (girls’ cell) for the first time. The proposed unit will work as an independent cell and will not be a part of Mahila Morcha (women’s wing) or Yuva Morcha (youth wing).

According to a party insider, the decision was taken after party president Amit Shah’s two day pravas with the city unit. Sources said that during Mr Shah’s stay, the party’s national general secretary (organisation), Ram Lal, suggested that the local unit must expand its base among young females.

“Ram Lalji asked us to reach out to more and more young women and convince them to join the party. There are many young females who are impressed with the policies and ideology of BJP, but unable to join the party. This section of young females will be invited to join the new cell,” they said.

Following the direction from the party’s national general secretary (organisation), Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has instructed its youth wing chief and district presidents to identify and reach out to interested young females.

“The members of the youth wing have been asked to prepare a list of those women who are willing to work for the new wing. The district or block level leaders will prepare a list and after that a detailed strategy will be chalked out for a further course of action. They are specifically being told that no pressure tactics should be put on anyone,” said a party leader.
