New Delhi: The Delhi police crime branch arrested the husband of a municipal councillor in connection with the murder of a property dealer in Uttam Nagar of southwest Delhi in November last year, the police said on Tuesday. “Tomar disclosed that he, along with his gang members Punit, Praveen, Henry, Sushil and Sombir, had hatched a conspiracy to murder property dealer Bijender in a land dispute. On November 8, Punit and Sombir shot dead Bijender near his house,” said the official.

Punit was arrested by the crime branch in November, 2016. He disclosed that the he had “handed over the weapon” used in Bijender’s murder to Tomar, he said.

Tomar’s wife, Anju Gupta, is a sitting councillor of MCD from Uttam Nagar area (Mohan Garden ward). He had joined the notorious gang of Manjit Mahal and is a close associate of dreaded criminal Nafe Singh,” he said.
