AAP’s bungalow allotment a scam, says Ajay Maken

New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken claimed on Friday that the Delhi government’s decision to allot Bungalow No. 206 at  Rouse Avenue near ITO  to the Aam Aadmi Party was in “gross violation” of all rules and procedures. Calling it a “big scandal”, he said land was a reserved subject and the city administration had no powers to allocate it to any political outfit. The land in the city comes under the jurisdiction of the DDA, which reports directly to the Union Urban Development Ministry.

In a letter to lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung on Friday, Mr Maken wrote about the violation by the AAP government in allotting the Rouse Avenue bungalow to AAP and demanded a CBI probe into the entire matter. Mr Maken demanded that the PWD should not only revoke the allotment of the bungalow, but also take its possession and recover market rent on a penalty for unauthorised use of the accommodation, furniture and electrical installations from AAP.

Mr Maken said the AAP  had come to power with the promise that it would make a difference in governance and work for the betterment of the common man. He said the AAP government has been in power for almost two years, and it has not built even a single house for the jhuggi dwellers, whereas it has allotted  land to its own party, in gross violation of rules and regulations. Mr Maken said that the chief minister had decided on October 5, 2015 to bring a Cabinet note to allow land/building to be used by recognised parties in the national capital.

In his letter to the LG, Mr Maken pointed out that the note did not mention that “land” was a reserved subject and the elected government had no authority to take a decision in this regard.
