New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Delhi High Court to decide on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea seeking quashing of criminal defamation case against him.

Referring the matter back to the Delhi High Court, a division bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri and R. Bhanumati said there won't be any stay on lower court proceedings in the case.

A plea was filed by Congress leader Kapil Sibal's son Amit Sibal against the Delhi High Court's order granting exemption from personal appearance to Kejriwal and others in a defamation case.

Besides Kejriwal and Sisodia, Sibal had also named former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members Prashant Bhushan and Shazia IImi as accused in the case.

Sibal had alleged that the accused had said he had taken advantage of his father's position to represent a telecom company in court cases.

According to reports, Kejirwal had been targeting Sibal over the Vodafone tax case when Kapil Sibal took the charge of the law ministry.
