Delhi: 11,000 fined for violating rail rules

New Delhi: The Delhi railway authority has launched an intensive drive which has prosecuted around 11,000 people in and around station premises and circulating areas for violating rules.  

The special team has rolled measures to nab people including vendors who violate rules, by littering, smoking, overcharging coolies, irregular stacking or movement of parcel trolleys. Around 7,500 such miscreants fell in cop net.

DRM, Delhi division of Northern Railway, R.N. Singh, said that  the drive started on June 10 at four major stations—New Delhi, Delhi, Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar to prosecute unauthorised people in and around station premises. “Around 10,875 people were prosecuted from June 10 to August 10 for their unauthorised presence and authority has tagged Rs 36.18 lakh as the fine amount,” said Mr Singh. The Delhi Division has also formed ‘special squads’ to curb ticketless travelling.
