Delhi: BA student found hanging at her friend’s apartment

New Delhi: Mystery shrouds the death of a second year BA student after her body was found hanging from the ceiling of a flat in Narela. The police suspect foul play as the flat, which belongs to the victim’s friend, was locked from outside.

The incident came to light on Friday morning, following which the police is questioning the friend of the deceased. Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased have alleged that their daughter has been murdered.  

Probe reveals that the deceased was pursuing BA from IGNOU and was a second year student. She was living in Alipur with her family. On Thursday, she went to appear for an exam which was held at Shraddhanand College. Her brother had dropped her at the examination centre. But when he came back in the evening to pick his sister, he couldn’t find her. He looked around for her, but in vain. He informed his family, who launched a frantic search. Later at night, they approached the Alipur police station and filed a missing plaint.

In their complaint, the parents mentioned their daughter’s friend, Ashish, a resident of Bakhtawar Village and suspected his involvement. Based on the plaint, the police summoned Ashish late at night. He told the police that he had taken the deceased to his flat in Narela and that she was in his flat. On his instance, the police went to check this out. There, they found the girl hanging from the ceiling.

Ashish allegedly told the police that he had no role in her suicide. He said that he had taken her to his flat on her insistence. According to him, he had stayed at his flat for some time and had later left for his home at night. The parents of the deceased, however, alleged that their daughter has been murdered by Ashish. Alipur police has initiated a probe into the same and are questioning the accused.

The victim’s body has been sent for post mortem and police is awaiting the report to ascertain the exact cause of death.
