Similarly in class 11, the most under-performed stream was the Arts streams in last three years.
New Delhi: An RTI has revealed that over 48 per cent students of class 9 could not make it to the next standard in the past three years. While over seven lakh students took admission in class 9 in Delhi government schools from 2014-17, only 3.92 lakh students passed from the class in these years.
According to the data sought through an RTI filed by applicant Shikha Bagga, secretary of NGO “Justice for All”, the directorate of education revealed that out 2,46,749 students only 1,27,667 students passed in 2014-15, 1,36,962 passed out of 2,69,703 students in 2015-16 and 1,27,904 passed out 2,44,636 students in 2016-17. Similarly in class 11, the most under-performed stream was the Arts streams in last three years.
While 1,46,476 students took admission to Arts stream in 2014-15, only 85,540 students had passed. The number of students who appeared in Science stream was at 9,305 in the same year, of which only 7,427 had passed while 32,200 students took admission to Commerce and only 23,667 passed.
In the year 2015-16, 7,634 students opted for Science, of which 6,435 passed, 22,738 took Commerce and only 19,277 had passed.
