New Delhi: The body of a 26-year-old woman was found in her residence in southwest Delhi's Dwarka on Sunday, police said.

Police suspect Amrika Devi was killed by her husband Shiv Balak following a quarrel. He has been absconding, leaving behind their three children, after the matter was reported to the police by their neighbours around 9:30 am.

The police said they suspect Balak might have been drunk at the time of the incident and strangulated his wife.

The body had injury marks on the face, the police said. The weapon used in the crime was yet to be recovered. The body has been sent for autopsy.

Area residents told the police that the couple often used to fight, likely over family issues.
