Jawaharlal Nehru University girl says friend raped her in '14

The police said that a zero FIR was registered in this case in Vasant Kunj North police station on June 8.

New Delhi: An M.Phil student from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Wednesday registered an FIR against her friend for allegedly stalking and sexually assaulting her. The complaint was registered in Model Town police station.

The police said that a zero FIR was registered in this case in Vasant Kunj North police station on June 8. The police said that the incident dated back to 2014 when the complainant used to live in Model Town along with her parents. During her stay in North Delhi’s Model Town, she met the suspect, identified by her as Sanjay Kumar Jha, through a common friend.

The duo became good friends and in the year 2015, the complainant alleged that Sanjay laced her drink and then allegedly sexually assaulted her. She also charged that Sanjay threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone, else her family will be shot dead. The complainant for the last two years has been pursuing her M.Phil from JNU. She told the police that after the suspect learnt about her higher studies from JNU, he supposedly started stalking her.

The police said that when Sanjay continued to stalk her, the student approached the North Vasant Kunj police and lodged a plaint. As the probe was taken up, police learnt about the jurisdictional issue and registered a zero FIR on June 8.

On Wednesday, the case was transferred to Model town police station where the police has registered the plaint and are now probing the mater.
