New Delhi: Infighting within the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) emerged on Saturday when the three working presidents Harun Yusuf, Devender Yadav, Rajesh Lilothia have shot a letter to Rahul Gandhi, and AICC general secretary in-charge of organisation KC Venugopal against Sheila Dikshit, accusing her of taking “unilateral decisions” against AICC Delhi in-charge PC Chacko’s directive.

Mr Chacko also has written to Ms Dikshit, on Saturday over her appointing 14 districts Congress committee, 280 Block Committee observers without consulting him and the working presidents of the party’s unit.

“Today I find from media reports that you have appointed observers at the block level and district level as I have stayed the dissolution of the block committees, the appointment of Block observers are unauthorized and will lead to unnecessary differences and conflict at Block levels. Districts observers’ appointment without consulting working presidents and AICC GS Incharge is also unauthorised” said Mr Chacko in his letter.

Earlier, Ms Dikshit had dissolved the committees on the recommendations of a five-member committee set up by her to look into the reasons that had led to the party’s debacle in the seven Lok Sabha seats in the city. The committee comprised of former Rajya Sabha MP Parvez Hashmi; former city ministers A.K. Walia and Yoganand Shastri; party’s national spokesperson Pawan Khera; and former four-time legislator Jaikishan. Mr Chacko had overturned her decision on the ground that it could harm the party in the coming Assembly elections to be held in February next year.

Ms Dikshit, however, went ahead with her decision by appointing observers for 14 districts and the 280 block committees to short-list the names of probable candidates for the post of presidents for the block committees.
