Nursing assistant found hanging in Safdarjung Hospital
Deceased Sanjay Kumar was posted at the out-patient department (OPD) od the hospital.
New Delhi: A 48-year-old medical attendant at Safdarjung Hospital has allegedly committed suicide. The body was found hanging on Tuesday morning and no suicide note was recovered, police said. The deceased, Sanjay Kumar, was a resident of Rohini’s Vijay Vihar and was at the out-patient department (OPD).
The police received a call at around 9 am to inform about the suicide on fifth floor of the OPD. When they reached the spot, they found Kumar’s body hanging from the fan. They were told that Kumar was working on an 8 am to 4 pm shift and was tasked with locking the doctor’s room and handing the keys to the security in-charge. “It was revealed that he came on Monday but didn’t deposit the keys and also didn’t return home,” police said.
The security in-charge allegedly that he tried to contact him and his family but could not find him, they added.
A postmortem was conducted by the police and the body was handed over to the family on Tuesday.
