Man killed by neighbour as he objected to lewd remark

New Delhi: While protecting the honour of his daughter, a man  was stabbed to death when he stopped some miscreants from passing lewd comments about her.

The shocking incident took place in Moti Nagar area on Sunday night when the 51-year-old businessman went to confront his neighbour, whose sons made some obscene gesture at his 24-year-old daughter.

Confirming the incident,  deputy commissioner of police (West) Monika Bhardwaj said a case has been registered and probe initiated.

The 45-year-old accused father, along with his 20-year-old son, has been arrested while his minor sons have been apprehended in connection with the incident. The body has been sent for post mortem and the autopsy report is awaited.

The deceased’s 19-year-old son was also injured in the incident that took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Earlier, the man had taken his daughter to hospital after she complained of severe headache and while the duo was returning home from the hospital on his two-wheeler, a couple of local boys made indecent gestures, police said on Monday.

An argument broke out when the victim went to the house of the accused and in the midst of it all the businessman was attacked and stabbed multiple times.

Locals came out of their houses after hearing the commotion, but no one dared to intervene.

The victim’s son came to his father’s rescue, but was also stabbed. Somehow, he managed to raise an alarm following which his mother and sister rushed to the spot and took the father-son duo to a hospital. A PCR call was made after which the staff rushed to the spot.

The businessman succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning while his son is still battling for his life, police said.
