New Delhi: Power failure on the Delhi Metro’s busy Yellow Line delayed the commuters on Monday. Train services on the Central Secretariat-Badli section faced disruption and delays for about 20 minutes until 12.40 pm, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said in a statement.

It cited power failure as the primary reason for the disruption and blamed Delhi Transco Ltd (DTL). The power failure led to tripping of the Overhead Electrification (OHE) two or three times, disturbing train movements on the section.

It also led to an “interlocking issue” between Jahangirpuri and Model Town stations due to which the Operation Control Centre (OCC) was unable to give right signals to the trains. The Yellow Line runs all the way from Badli in North Delhi to Huda City Centre in Gurgaon.

Delhi Metro officials said that two trains were short looped from Viswavidyalaya to HUDA City Centre in this period to minimise the impact on rest of the section. Power supply from DTL was restored and interlocking issue was resolved by 12.40 pm and normal services resumed thereafter. However, passengers complained that the services remained affected much beyond that.
