New Delhi: In a bid to improve the shooting skill of police personnel, the Delhi police is going to acquire an advance small arms training simulator system.

The system will be capable of enabling eight firers to practice (fire) simultaneously and independently.

The system will give feel of actual recoil, acoustic corresponding to real weapon parameters.

The system will be capable of enabling eight firers to practice (fire) simultaneously and independently.

Besides, it will have option for adopting two more firers. The system will give feel of actual recoil, acoustic corresponding to real weapon parameters.

It will have the capability to adapt all types of small arms held by Delhi police. Besides, it will also have the capability to adapt small arms of other types.

However, initially capability to adapt Glock-17, Glock-26, AK-47, MP-5, LMG, INSAS, 9 mm Brownian Pistol, .38 Revolver Special, SAF will be required. It can be changed as per requirement.

This system will provide special effects on the range to simulate — first, different modes for sky like clear sky, dense clouds, sparse clouds, rain clouds etc. second, the system will provide configurable time of day (such as night, dusk/dawn and day).

It will also provide configurable fog, wind and smoke conditions, which once enabled shall allow adjustment of visibility at varying ranges.

Different types of operational environment will be provided like built up area, high rise buildings, shopping malls, historical monuments, desert area, jungle and mountainous terrain etc.

It will also provide the targets. The system shall have provision to incorporate user-defined targets as per their requirements.

The system will have the capability to facilitate target engagement up to 1,000 metres.

“It can generate user-defined 3D interactive scenarios and different types of targets. Initially the service provider will arrange and conduct the training of 25 personnel for two weeks in operation and maintenance,” said a senior police official.
