Constable, ASI beaten up in case of road rage

New Delhi: An Delhi traffic police assistant sub-inspector and a constable were at the receiving end after they were allegedly beaten up by five persons, including a woman, last Sunday when the two cops on duty tried to intervene between fight of two motorists who accidentally hit each other’s cars. Moreover, both the victim got threat of dire consequence if they reported the incident to the local police.

The incident took place between 11.40 am and 12 noon, when two cars heading towards Trans Yamuna brushed each other at the ITO junction. One of the cars was being driven by a taxi driver, whose car merely brushed the accused car at ITO red light, which led a scuffle between them. “The woman motorist along with her four associates got angry and came out from their car and started to beat the other car driver brutally. After seeing this, ASI Krishan Pal intervened into the matter and asked the accused to leave. Suddenly, all the five accused charged him and the woman allegedly had beaten the ASI with her sandals while her male associates thrashed him with punches and kicks.

In the meantime, constable Shukram Pal tried to save the ASI, but he was also beaten up mercilessly by the accused. “The accused also tore their uniform,” said a police official on the condition of anonymity.

The ASI immediately sent the wireless massage to the headquarters and asked for help. A police team reached at spot and took control over the accused.

The accused also had threatened the police officials of dire consequence if they lodged any complaint against them. They claimed be the notorious criminals of Karol Bagh area. The police has filed a case under the Section 186/353/323/332 and 34 of IPC against the accused persons. “We had arrested them on the spot and they were sent to the juridical custody. Later, they were released on bail,” said a police official.
