Gangster, carrying Rs 50 thousand reward, held

New Delhi: The crime branch of Delhi police on Monday arrested a dreaded gangster and gang member of the infamous Ajay Jadeja Gang, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, from Rohini area.

The accused gangster, Jitender Choudhary (24), alias Jeetu alias, Jat alias Kanja from Hathras, UP, was allegedly involved in more than 12 cases, including a sensational case of kidnapping of two businessmen in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi in which Rs 25 crore ransom was demanded.

The gangster has previously been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police in seven cases of attempt to murder, robbery and Arms Act including a dacoity of Rs 50 lakh in Agra.

After being released from jail in December 2016, he joined the Ajay Jadeja gang along with his associate Vinod Jat, a dismissed constable of UP police.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Jitender Choudhary (24) from near a CNG pump on Kanjhamala Road in Sector 21 of Rohini in last week, DCP(Crime Branch) Joy Tirkey said.

During interrogation, Jitender disclosed that he was born in Vill –Nangla Chihtar, Distt-Hathras, U.P. He is married and has two children. Due to bad company he started committing theft/robbery/dacoity along with his associates. The U.P. Police in seven cases has previously arrested him. He was released from Jail in December last year, after which he joined the Ajay Jadeja gang along with his associate Vinod Jat who was a dismissed constable of U.P. police.

He further told that he and Vinod Jat on the instructions from Ajay Jadeja abducted Jhansi-based prominent businessmen Raju Kamraya and Rahul Agarwal while they were on their way to the badminton court in July. They wore police uniforms while committing the crime. The gang demanded Rs. 25 crores for releasing the victims. After kidnapping, they changed their hideouts frequently and last used an apartment in Agra. Ajay Jadeja was in constant contact with the family of kidnapped persons. Ajay Jadeja demanded that the money be transferred overseas through hawala. STF Agra, UP formed several teams and managed to rescue the victims after 12 days of coordinated effort.

Soon thereafter, the gang robbed Rs. 8 lakh from Hathras. Vinod Jat and Lokender were subsequently arrested by UP Police. Jitender Chaudhary had been absconding ever since. During arrest he had one country made pistol .315 bore with 02 live cartridges. Ends/ Bhaskar
