New Delhi: The Delhi police is on the lookout for a conwoman who allegedly duped gullible job aspirants on the pretext of promising them jobs in the high court and Supreme Court and demanded cash. The woman has so far duped a dozen persons.

According to the police, two separate complaints have been lodged in Safdarjung Enclave and South Campus police station against the conwoman for duping some youth and cheating them to the tune of Rs 11 lakh.

The complainants alleged that accused Anita Dhiman, who used to live in a dharamshala, allegedly duped them in separate incidences by promising them jobs in high court and the Supreme Court.

One of the complainants, Arjun Kumar Gupta, said that he met the accused woman in Neb Sarai. He hails from Gorakhpur and had come to the city for medical treatment. Anita allegedly promised Arjun a job in the Supreme Court. She allegedly told him that her brother works in the Supreme Court as an upper division clerk. She further told Arjun that there are vacancies and she can help him with the job in the premier court.

Arjun paid Rs 2.6 lakh to the accused on April 24 and asked for some more time to arrange for rest of the amount. By the time he returned from his native home and searched for Anita, she had absconded with the money. Arjun approached Safdarjung Enclave on May 7 and registered a case against the accused.

Dheeraj Kumar, who is a resident of South Moti Bagh, wasn’t that lucky. His father, who is a driver, met Anita. She introduced herself as a legal adviser and lured him in a similar trap. The victim told his son about the same. When Dheeraj spoke to Anita over the phone, he was asked to arrange for Rs 3.5 lakh.

In a similar manner, Anita lured three more youths, who joined in and ended up paying a total of Rs 8.40 lakh. The accused, after collecting the cash from the four youths, escaped with the money. Dheeraj later approached the police and registered a case in the South Campus police station.
