New Delhi: The BJP Lok Sabha members from the national capital accused the Arvind Kejriwal government of stalling development projects worth several thousand crores in their constituencies by not releasing funds.

The MPs alleged that the AAP government deliberately denies funds for the important infrastructure projects despite the fact that a majority of them have got the approval of the agencies concerned.

Delhi BJP chief and Lok Sabha member from North-East Manoj Tiwari has been demanding Rs 300 crore from the Delhi government for the construction of a flyover at Shastri Park besides completion of a dozen other projects in his constituency. Mr Tiwari claimed that a flyover at Shastri Park will ease the traffic movement in the area.

He will also start his fast unto death from April 12 against the city government’s apathy towards his demands.

Delhi BJP sources said that Mr Tiwari has been advised by doctors against going on fast as he has been under medication after a recent laser surgery for kidney.

Mr Tiwari told this newspaper that people of North-East Delhi have been struggling with traffic snarls in the Shastri Park area, but the Delhi government is not releasing funds for the construction of flyover. All necessary approvals have already been taken fron the agencies concerned, he added.

“We have been demanding a flyover at Shastri Park for the last two years. I am left with no option than to go on fast unto death,” Mr Tiwari added.

According to South Delhi Lok Sabha member Ramesh Bidhuri, the Kejriwal government has denied land for construction of a women college in Bhati village in his constituency as well as a sports complex in the area.

The Delhi University vice-chancellor has agreed to open the college, he claimed.

“The Delhi government is not ready to allot land for college. Construction of a 200-bed hospital in Jaitpur has also been stalled due to hurdles in land allotment,” said Mr Bidhuri.

Mr Bidhuri claimed that no development works have started in unauthorised colonies of his constituency due to lack of funds. He has also demanded revival of around a dozen of water bodies in South Delhi areas.

In North-West Delhi constituency, the BJP parliamentarian Dr Udit Raj alleged that construction of a hospital, sports complex and multi-purpose community centre in Januti village have been stalled due to unavailability of land and funds.

BJP Lok Sabha members from New Delhi, West Delhi, Chandni Chowk and East Delhi also alleged apathy by the Delhi government towards their demands
