Fire fighter gets injured dousing flames

According to the fire officials, the call was received at Wednesday morning around 8.55 am.

New Delhi: Two days after a major fire gutted in Sultanpur's factory and claimed four lives, on Wednesday, a fire fighter allegedly got injured when he sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out in a jewellery showroom in Lajpat Nagar 2 on Wednesday.

According to the fire officials, the call was received at Wednesday morning around 8.55 am. The caller informed that the fire has taken place in a fourth floor of a building in Lajpat Nagar-II's Central Market area. Soon after the call was received and as many as ten fire tenders were pressed into services. The fire personnel were put into services to combat the fire and in the process a fire fighter sustained burn injuries while dousing the flames when a cylinder kept in the jewellery shop went off. He was taken to the Safdarjung hospital, according to a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official. "He suffered burn injuries to his face and hands from the blaze," the official said. The fire was brought under control by 9:50 am, he said, adding that further investigation is underway. Notably, the central market in Delhi has number of shops.
