New Delhi: The team of Delhi police busted a mother-son duo running a racket in promising jobs overseas.

According to the police, accused Madhuri Sharma and her son Vishal Sharma, both residents of Vakad, Distt. Pune, Maharashtra, posed as director of Mastech Experts Ltd. They were running the company in Netaji Subhash Place in Pitampura. It was like a family syndicate being run by two cheats — Madhuri and Vishal Sharma in association with one Ashok who is a cousin of Madhuri.

Probe revealed that the syndicate had duped more than hundreds of people. The police took action when as many as 100 complaints were received against the aforementioned firm in Subhash Place police station. The complainants alleged that they promised applicants immigration and jobs abroad in Germany, Canada, Australia, etc. They took a handsome fee and passports from the applicants. They delivered appointment letters, which were found to be fake. Investigation was taken up and a team constituted.

The team scanned accounts, office premises and mobile phones of the accused. Their hideout was traced to a residential area in Pune. A raid was conducted and two of the accused were arrested. The accused told the police that they used to run ‘committees’ when they were residing in Vidyapati Nagar, Inder Enclave-II in Nirhari. They pocketed money of several innocent persons, said the police.

Later, they opened a call centre in the name of Mastech Experts Infosolution Pvt Ltd in Sector 3, Rohini. The said business was not profitable and they incurred losses. So, they closed it and started a new business of sending people abroad with job opportunities in lieu of a huge amount of fees.

At the time of arrest, they had settled in Pune, Maharashtra and were about to start a similar business with a new name Overseas Immigration Consultants (OIC). However, one of the accused Ashok Kumar is absconding.

Till date, the cheated amount is about Rs 60 lakh, the police added.
