Two carbine, 50 pistols, and as many cartridges were recovered from their possession by the special cell.

It has launched a special drive against the supply of illegal firearms in Delhi from the other parts of the country. Concerted efforts have led to the busting of several gun trafficking rackets and seizure of huge cache of weapons.

In continuation of this crusade, specific information was received on Monday that one Mohd Azimuddin Sheikh, a key member of an illegal firearms syndicate, would deliver the huge consignment of illegal firearms to one Hazi Kayum in Delhi.

Accordingly, the team laid a trap at the vantage points. At about 11.55 am Mohd Azimuddin was found carrying two trolley bags.

The police swung into action and nabbed him. In a similar incident, the sleuths nabbed Aas Mohd from Singhola area on Wednesday acting upon a tip-off. During searching his bag, 12 sophisticated .32 bore pistols and 19 magazines were recovered.

During sustained interrogation, Azimuddin disclosed that he has been involved in the act of illegal arms supply for the last five years. He further disclosed that he and one of his associate, Akil, brought consignments of illegal arms from West Bengal to deliver the same to Hazi Kayum. Efforts are on to trace Akil.

Meanwhile, Aas disclosed that he supplied the consignment of illegal pistols at the behest of Sarvar, an arms supplier from his village.
