Three arrested for waylaying Ola drivers, passengers

According to the police, within the past 15 days, PCR calls were placed regarding the thefts/snatching by the person who booked the Ola cabs.

New Delhi: Three Ola cab drivers turned into seasoned criminals after the trio, all belonging to Ola Cab as drivers, began robbing the fellow drivers. The series of snatching and robbery started when one of the accused was himself robbed by other gang and decided to use the modus operandi to rob their fellow drivers. 

Police said that the modus operandi was easy for them as they had the list of all the drivers enrolled with Ola and depending upon the list the gang used to strike. First they would book an Ola cab through app, then after reaching an isolated place used to rob the driver and also the passenger/s. 

According to the police, within the past 15 days, PCR calls were placed regarding the thefts/snatching by the person who booked the Ola cabs. Further it was noticed that all such incident were reported after a passenger boarded the cab from Shah Alam Bandh Road and thereafter commit robbery near Seven Seas Hotel Main Road, Adarsh Nagar. 

With a spurt in such cases, a police team was constituted who studied the pattern of the robbery/theft committed. In all the complaints, a similar modus operandi was followed. 

On Nov. 7, a police team laid a trap based on specific input and tapping on the booking. The three youngsters have been identified as Rahul Wadhwa, 25, Jatin Oberoi, 32 and Bhuvan Sakhuja, 24.
