New Delhi: The Prime Minister Office’s (PMO) intervention brought about an overnight change in the Delhi police’s attitude. The police, who were till then indifferent to a retired postman’s anxiety to file a theft complaint, contacted him and offered to file an FIR in a theft case.

The retired postman, identified as Surendra Kumar, 64, frustrated of running from pillar to post owing to the neglecting attitude of the police, wrote a letter to the Union home ministry and  and the PMO about the Delhi police .

When the letter came to the notice of the PMO it quickly directed the Union home ministry to issue orders immediately to the Delhi police to register Mr Kumar’s theft complaint.

Mr Kumar, a resident of Jheel Khurana, with his ordeal not only casted doubts on the functioning of the police department, but also accused them for not registering the theft FIR for more than three months.

When they returned they learnt that all the jewellery kept for marriage had also been stolen following which the approaching marriage hjas been stolen.
