New Delhi: The murder mystery of a partially burnt body was solved in just six hours with the arrest of three people. The accused have been identified as Shareef, Khalid and Sobi Khan.

The incident took place on the intervening night of October 4 and 5 at about 1.00 am. Two scooter riders were seen carrying a heavy plastic bag on Brahmpuri Road. During patrolling, SI Dinesh Kumar along with HC Ashok sensed trouble and tried to stop them. The bag fell from their scooter but they turned towards Gautampuri. The police team tried to chase them, but they disappeared.

Fortunately, SI Dinesh Kumar was able to note down the registration number of the vehicle. In the mean time when the police team checked the bag, they found the dead body of a man wrapped in a plastic bag. It was partially burnt with the legs tied together with a cord.

The deceased was identified as Athar Abbas, a property dealer. Accord-ing to the police, the motive for the crime was some financial dispute.

On October 4, the accused met Abbas and consumed liquor at a site in Jafrabad, following which they shot him dead and tried to burn his body to conceal identity. Later, they tried to dispose off the body when they were intercepted by the cops. A case has been filed and a probe is underway.
