New Delhi: Two men returning from Haridwar on a motorcycle died after allegedly being hit by an unidentified vehicle on National Highway 8 in South Delhi’s Mahipalpur area, the police said on Monday.

The motorcycle the duo was riding was mis-sing from the spot even though all the other belongings of the decea-sed were found, said a senior police officer. The police were informed about two injured men lying unconscious on NH 8 around 7.30 am.

One of the men was found lying on the edge of the road while another man was found lying in a drain, the police said. They were taken to a hospital where they were declared “brought dead”. The deceased have been identified as Devender Lama (28) and Milan Rana (20), the police said.

Their helmets and a bag were found near their bodies on the spot, but their motorcycle was nowhere to be found at the accident site, they added.

It is suspected that the vehicle was stolen and the police are questioning nearby residents to trace the missing two-wheeler.

Lama and Rana had driven to Haridwar on Saturday afternoon and were returning Sunday night when the incident took place. They were hit by a vehicle on their way back.

The police is scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle that hit the duo.

Lama worked as a labourer in Oberoi Farms, while Rana did part-time work. Lama was a resident of Durga Vihar in Outer Delhi’s Najafgarh, while Rana stayed in Bijwasan.
