New Delhi: A 55-year-old man fell down on the Metro tracks due to giddiness and was crushed to death under a Delhi Metro train on Wednesday.

Officials said the incident occurred at the Janakpuri West station around 10:40 am when Narender Singh fell on the track in front of the train going towards Dwarka from Rajiv Chowk on the Blue Line of the Metro.

Singh's brother was also accompanying him.

"Singh was mentally disturbed and was suffering from fits. He was under treatment. In the CCTV footage obtained from the spot, it has been found that he fell on the tracks due to giddiness," said a senior police officer.

He got crushed under the train and was killed on the spot.

CISF and Delhi Metro authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, they added.

Police have ruled out any foul play in the matter. However, Metro services were affected on the line for sometime.

There was overcrowding on the platforms and trains with even men having to travel in women's coach.
