Delhi: Woman tries to save dog, assaulted

New Delhi: In yet another incident of assault and molestation against women, a woman was allegedly slapped,  dragged by her hair and even groped by a man in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar.

The incident happened on February 1 at about 7.30 pm. A dog was being beaten by her neighbour Tony Wilson and as the woman objected, the accused allegedly slut-shamed her and then thrashed her in broad daylight. According to the complainant, it all started when she stepped out of her house to go to market. She saw Tony mercilessly beating a dog. In her complaint, she stated, “I saw my neighbour was beating the helpless dog mercilessly. When I asked him why you are beating the poor dog, he lost his cool and started abusing me.”

The woman further stated that as she objected to the abuses, the man allegedly entered her residence. He slapped her, grabbed her hair and then groped her.    

The woman was taken to a hospital and after an MLC was done, the Malviya Nagar police has registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
