New Delhi: Delhi University is likely to open admissions for the general category students once again. The reason being the varsity carrying out a special admission drive for the reserved category students, following which those who had secured admission under the general category are now withdrawing and taking admission under the reserved category.

“Now with the students getting the benefit of changing the category, the general seats are getting vacant. In such a situation, the varsity might release an eighth cut-off for the general category students and open the admission process between August 10 and 13,” an official said. It is to be noted that DU had started a special drive of admissions for res-erved/ quota applicant category, including sports/ ECA, for admissions to UG courses from July 31.

So far, more than 30 students changed their category to OBC, who had previously enrolled under the general category. Similarly, 9 students were admitted under the general category and now they have made changes in their category to SC.

The varsity already released the ninth-cut off for the reserved category students on August 5. “The students who took admission under the general category now hope of getting admission in a better college following which they are making changes in their category,” the official added.
