Gambling rackets busted, 31 held in separate cases

In order to keep check on the organised criminal activities of gambling, a team was formed by the police.

New Delhi: The police has arrested 31 gamblers in two separate incidents and has claimed to have busted two gambling rackets.

In the continuous action to prevent and detect crime in the national capital, the Southeast district police has arrested 20 persons for gambling in Zakir Nagar area. Cash amounting to `44,170 has been recovered from their possession.

Out of the 20 persons, four were arrested for recording and 16 for playing, said DCP (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal.

On the other hand, 11 accused gamblers were arrested in West district. Police recovered stake money of `37,180, one laptop, and one TV set from their possession.

In order to keep check on the organised criminal activities of gambling, a team was formed by the police. It received information that some persons were indulging in gambling activities in the Ratan Puri area.

“Immediately, a raid was conducted and the 11 accused were arrested,” said DCP (West) Monika Bhardwaj.
