New Delhi: The Delhi unit of Congress has set up a cyber cell to keep an eye on online bullies. The IT cell was established under the supervision of party chief Ajay Maken.

The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee has also appointed as many as 77 convenors to keep track on social networking sites. The party is also in the process of appointing one such convenor each for the 272 municipal wards in the national capital.

Aniruddh Sharma, who is currently handling the IT cell, said that as of now they have about 10,000 volunteers who support them in countering the social media abusers.

“We have a convenor for each Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies. We have now planned to appoint 272 more convenors in each ward of the municipal bodies. The convenors will form their respective social media teams. The IT cell was put in place around one year ago and we are now expanding it,” he said.

Mr Sharma added that the party also conducts training classes for its convenors before they are appointed for the job. This training programme is held at DPCC office on a regular basis.
