New Delhi: A quarrel took place between the employees of a popular café in South Delhi and a member of a music band in the early hours on Saturday, following which cross cases have been filed by the two parties. A separate case has been filed against members of the music band for allegedly abusing and tearing the uniform of a policeman under the influence of alcohol.

A band, “The Cosmic Truth,” was performing at the Turquoise Cottage on Friday night. The sound engineer of the band, Mayank Tiwari, had ordered some drinks at the bar. After the band’s performance, he went to settle the bill. The waiter allegedly argued about the number of bottles consumed, Sahil Sharma, a member of the band, alleged in his complaint.

Mr Sharma alleged that he tried to speak to the manager, but a bartender by the name of Harpal Singh, along with two bouncers, started thrashing him and Tiwari.

In his complaint, Mr Sharma has claimed that the bouncers even tried to strangulate him. They later dragged him on the stairs while punching and kicking him, he told the police. Mr Sharma sustained injuries on his head. He also alleged that the police did not allow his brother to accompany him while he was being taken.

Mr Singh has also filed a case against Mr Sharma for allegedly fighting with him. The police has registered cross cases. When Mr Sharma and his band members were taken to the police station, they allegedly fought with the personnel from the police control room (PCR) van and even tore the uniform of one of the personnel.

On the complaint of the policeman, a case was lodged against Mr Sharma and the other band members. “Two cross FIRs and one FIR by a policeman against Sahil Sharma have been registered. We have obtained the footage from the CCTV installed inside the café,” said Chinmoy Biswal, ADCP-I (South).
