Juveniles among nine youth held for burglary

New Delhi: A gang of nine youth, including some juveniles, were  apprehended by the Delhi police. The police also  took into custody two receivers of jewellery. 

Following recent incidents of snatching and burglary, active patrolling was taken up by the police by creating a sub-division level joint operations team along with bikers under the supervision of ACP, Mayur Vihar, Shobhit Saksena.  

The team, led by SHO, Mayur Vihar, Inspector Manoj Sharma and Sub Inspector Sanjeev achieved its first break on April 2, when a burglar was caught red handed by the Mayur Vihar police personnel breaking down the door of a house. The burglar had locked himself in the house and was trying to get out, the police said.

On the April 3 evening, a team of Mandwali police station intercepted five other members of the gang on two motorcycles after giving a short chase. 

Upon interrogating the accused, the police also arrested two women receivers of gold jewellery. From the duo, around 100 gm of gold jewellery was recovered. Apart from necklaces, earrings, the police also recovered five sports motorcycles, three stolen mobile phones and one laptop.

The gang revealed that they would steal bikes using a set of master keys they possessed. After a recce, they decided upon a house to burgle and on finding the opportunity they struck.  

The accused have been identified as Mukul, Gaurav, Jitender, Shivam alias Kancha, Ashok alias Thanda Pani, Akash, Radha Devi and Annu Subba. They are all residents of Delhi and Trilokpuri.
