22-year-old youth shot dead in Vasant Kunj area

The deceased was identified as Ajay and the police has sent his body for post-mortem.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old youth was allegedly shot dead by four men after he tried to stop them from fighting with his friend following a verbal spat in Vasant Kunj area on Sunday evening.

The deceased was first hit with bricks and sticks, and later shot in the chest during the heated argument. The deceased was identified as Ajay and the police has sent his body for post-mortem.

A senior police officer said, “A PCR call was received from the Kusumpur Pahari area regarding firing at a man.”

The officer further added, “On reaching the spot, the police found that the injured — Ajay had been rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead with one gunshot wound on the chest.”

During questioning, Rakesh, the deceased’s brother informed the police that he along with his friends and the deceased were in Kusumpur Pahari area when they got to know about the quarrel through their friend.

When they reached there to mediate, assailants Krishan, Sumit, Deepak Amit, Vishal and Saurab started beating them with bricks. During the heated argument, Ajay was shot dead. The police, who were informed of the incident, reached the area and  rushed Ajay to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A case under sections of murder and Arms Act has been filed. Police teams have been formed and are searching for the accused on a war footing.
