New Delhi: In a major security beach reported in the city just before August 15, a man was arrested from the Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Chhawala for impersonating as a BSF officer. The incident was reported on Tuesday when the fake officer wearing a uniform, was trying to gain entry into the force’s Chhawla Camp in South West Delhi.

He was caught after a BSF man noticed a mis-match in the colour of his whistle cord in the uniform. An investigator probing the case said the main accused who identified himself as A. The complainant in the case, another BSF officer, said that when initially countered, the man gave a fake reply. “Immediately this information was given to Unit officials and after preliminary questioning by them and a BSF team, he admitted that he was a civilian. A security check was made in which the fake BSF identity card was recovered from him. While the accused was being questioned, his phone rang. The caller was a person named Pritam. The caller on the other said that he was waiting for the accused at Gate Number 5 of the BSF camp. On this a party rushed towards the said gate and detained Pritam,” said the complainant.

Pritam disclosed he was carrying Rs 10,000 to be handed over to the man in uniform. This was a part of the deal between the two wherein Pritam had promised to give him Rs 50,000 to help with his selection in the CAPF recruitment exam for the post of ASI (Steno). The accused was arrested under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
