New Delhi: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly dragged from her scooty, taken to an under-construction site and was gangraped by two men on Thursday late night in South Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area. She told the police that the accused allegedly assaulted her when she resisted their attempt and later fled the spot.

According to the police, the victim, a resident of Munirka, works in a bar in South Delhi’s Hauz Khas Village. She was living in a rented accommodation in Munirka. The incident took place while she was on her way home from work on Thursday late night. The incident came to light after the survivor dialled 100 and informed the control room. Soon, the police rushed to the spot and within hours, arrested the two perpetrators based on the description given by her.

The police has identified the two men as Nikhil and Vishal, both relatives and resident of Munirka. The two work as salesman in a cloth showroom in Sarojini Nagar. Probe reveals that Ayesha (name changed) was returning home after work. Upon reaching the village, she was intercepted by Vishal and Nikhil, who stopped her on the pretext of asking a address. As the survivor slowed down her scooty, the two dragged her away while one of them placed a hand on her mouth to suppress her voice. In her complaint, the complainant said that they took her to an under-construction building and allegedly raped her. When she tried to resist, they allegedly beat her and fled from the spot after committing the crime.

Ayesha, somehow managed to grab her mobile phone and called the control room and police was pressed into service. Based on the detailed description given by the survivor, the police arrested the two on Friday. The survivor was taken for a medical examination on Friday where the rape was confirmed. The Vasant Vihar police has registered a case under Section 376 of IPC and a probe is underway.

It can be recalled that two weeks ago, a JNU student was gangraped by two Afghan nationals in South Delhi’s Green Park area.

In another incident, a 15-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly gangraped by two persons, including a transgender, in Northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area, the police said on Saturday.

The accused took her away while she was sleeping outside her home on Friday evening and took turns to rape her, they said. Her mother started looking for her in the area and reached the transgender’s house where she found her daughter and took her back home, they said, adding that his male accomplice, Tara Chand, was also present in the house. The girl shared her ordeal with her mother who approached the police and got a case filed.
