New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Saturday demanded an apology from AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal accusing him of “misleading” people over registry of properties in unauthorised colonies.

Mr Tiwari said that registration of properties has begun in unauthorised colonies but the Kejriwal government is trying to obstruct it and mislead people.

“Mr Kejriwal should apologise to people for spreading lies. We will take legal action against him if he does not apologise to people in the next 24 hours,” Mr Tiwari said in a press conference in the presence of Lok Sabha member Parvesh Verma, BJP national secretary Sardar R.P. Singh, and co-incharge Neelkant Bakshi.

Mr Tiwari said that Mr Kejriwal’s falsehood has been exposed because the chief minister must be aware that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP had left the Lok Sabha when voting was taking place on the Bill concerning the unauthorised colonies.

Union housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Puri provided property ownership documents to 20 persons from unauthorised colonies.

The Centre has launched the PM-UDAY scheme for providing property ownership to owners in unauthorised colonies.

The Delhi chief minister, on Friday, questioned the authenticity of the property documents being given by Mr Puri, saying how could the registries be made without regularising the unauthorised colonies.

Mr Tiwari pointed out that Mr Kejriwal did not want to confer ownership rights on these people. The Modi government took over the work of regularising these colonies and completed the work within 100 days, which proves that he (Kejriwal) deliberately delayed the work.

“Mr Kejriwal has said so many lies that he has to say another to cover the previous ones. His deputy chief minister, Manish Sisodia, also tried to prove a falsehood as real by getting his own government accommodation registered to teach the people how to do forgery,” Mr Tiwari added.

Mentioning about the attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara, Sardar R.P. Singh said that the parties who are opposing CAA are unable to see how the persons engaged in protecting their religion are being persecuted.

“The politics of Congress and Aam Aadmi Party is based on caste and religion and they feel that the vote of a particular community will make them victorious,” Mr Singh added.
