Bhopal/New Delhi: A four-year-old girl, who was allegedly abducted and raped by her father’s friend in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, was on Tuesday flown to Delhi and admitted to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in a “critical” condition.

Doctors treating her in the district hospital in Satna have referred her to AIIMS after her condition deteriorated, a senior district officer told this newspaper.

Satna district collector and local superintendent of police “personally” supervised shifting of the rape survivor to the air ambulance which flew her along with her parents and a team of doctors from Satna to Delhi for admission in AIIMS, the officer said.

According to a source in the hospital, the girl was admitted to the paediatric surgery department and might have to undergo a surgery as she has several injuries in her private parts.

“She was admitted to the hospital at 7 pm. Her condition is critical and she may undergo surgery soon,” the source said, adding a team of doctors is being constituted by AIIMS administration to monitor her condition.

The girl was allegedly raped by one Mahendra Singh Gaud (23) on July 1.

The accused, who had left the child injured at the spot, was arrested on Monday.

Mahendra kidnapped her from her house when she was sleeping late on Sunday night and took her to the nearby jungle where he raped her and then abandoned her there believing her to be dead.

Some villagers however noticed him when he was fleeing the spot. They captured him and then handed him over to the police.

Meanwhile, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written a letter to Chief Justice of Supreme Court Deepak Mishra urging him to consider his proposal to set up fast-track courts at the high court and Supreme Court levels for speedy disposal of rape cases to give justice to the victims.
