Kapil Mishra marshalled out of House for third time

New Delhi: Rebel AAP legislator Kapil Mishra was on Monday marshalled out of the Delhi Assembly during the special session, the third time that he was evicted from the House since May.

Speaker Ram Niwas Goel ordered that the sacked AAP minister be marshalled out after Mr Mishra referred to him as “Dhritarashtra” (a character from Mahabharata) for not taking any action on his letter.

“Why are you sitting on my letter like Dhritarashtra?” Mr Mishra asked the Speaker.

He had last week written a letter to the Speaker “demanding justice” for disgruntled AAP volunteer Simran Kaur who had alleged that she was assaulted by three AAP MLAs.

This is the third time Mr Mishra was marshalled out of the Assembly. Last week, he was marshalled out following a heated argument between him and other legislators of the ruling party.

During the proceedings of the second day of the Delhi Assembly session last week, Mr Mishra got into a verbal exchange with AAP MLAs Jarnail Singh, Nitin Tyagi and the other AAP MLAs which prompted the speaker to ask him to sit down. Despite repeated warnings from Mr Goel, the AAP MLAs and the sacked minister continued to argue with each other. Subsequently, the Speaker ordered the marshals to take Mr Mishra out of the House.

Mr Mishra had earlier written to Mr Goel urging him that the CCTV footage of the Assembly be seized as he expressed apprehension of “destruction of evidence”, a day after the two men were allegedly thrashed by the AAP MLAs in the House.

Earlier in May, Mr Mishra was escorted out of the House during a one-day session after he and a few AAP MLAs came to blows when the sacked minister held out a banner with allegations of corruption against chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
