16-year-old boy uploads 9 girls’ fake FB profiles

New Delhi: The Delhi police has apprehended a 16-year-old Class 10 student of a private school in Preet Vihar for creating fake FB profiles of nine girls from his class on a dating application.

Police said they received a complaint from one of the victims last week after she started receiving calls from unknown numbers seeking sexual favors.

They said while scanning through the messages, the police found that her profile was uploaded on two dating apps. A search was mounted to check the IP address from which the profile was uploaded, which led them to the  accused.

It was found the mobile phone belonged to the boy. Initially, he tried to tried to be ignorant, while scanning through his phone, the cops found he had opened accounts on both the apps and had updated the profiles of nine other girls on them.

The boy told the police the girls had complained to the class teacher about him a few days ago and angry, he decided to upload their profiles and cell numbers on the site. The teenager has been charged under the IT Act.
