New Delhi: The Delhi Metro will construct a skywalk at Dhaula Kuan to facilitate interchange between the Airport Express Line and the upcoming Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar corridor. The half-a-kilometre skywalk, installed with travelators, will connect the existing Dhaula Kuan Metro station on the Airport line and the upcoming Metro station in the area for the convenience of the commuters. Constructed 20-25 metre above the ground, this will be one of the highest skywalks in Delhi.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s chief Mangu Singh explained that due to space and feasibility constraints, the upcoming Dhaula Kuan Metro station will be away from the existing station.

“A 0.5 km skywalk will be constructed to connect both the stations at Dhaula Kuan and to facilitate interchange between the two Metro corridors. Surveys have already been conducted to construct it. For the convenience of passengers, travelators will be installed on the skywalk so that they are transported between the two stations without walking. The skywalk will be completed before the under construction Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar Corridor is thrown open to facilitate hassle-free interchange between the stations,” he said.

The height of the upcoming Metro station at Dhaula Kuan is approximately 24 metre above the ground. Due to this, the height of the upcoming skywalk will be 20-25 metre.
