CISF’s new anti-theft squad detains six men

New Delhi: The newly-formed anti-theft squad of CISF detained six men on Monday, who are reportedly active at ISBT, Inderprastha, Anand Vihar, Nangloi, Chandni Chowk, and New Delhi Metro stations. The ATS was recently formed for each Metro line to curb the menace of swindlers at the Delhi Metro.

On September 22, an incident of fraudulent took place at Shadipur Metro station in which a group of swindlers cheated a female passenger. She filed a complaint with DMRC and Delhi Metro rail police (DMRP) in this connection. After receiving the complaint, the ATS of Blue line analysed the CCTV footage and were trying to nab the accused who were involved in this incident. 

On Monday, at about 11.25 am, CISF personal of ATS noticed a group of six such suspected swindlers at Botanical Garden Metro station and they started following them and caught all of them. The anti-theft squad brought all of them to Station Control Room at Shadipur Metro station for further enquiry.  

The group has various modus operandi, such as cheating the passengers by telling them that they will purchase railway tickets or Metro cards/ tokens for them without the hassle of queues and without any trouble.
