New Delhi: One person died while two others sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out in a cosmetic manufacturing unit in Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area.

According to police, the fire broke out at Shiva Cosmetics, a nail polish manufacturing unit located at phase 1 in Mangolpuri.

The call regarding the fire in the factory was received at about 4.22 pm on Tuesday.

A fire official said that one person, identified as Rajesh Gulati (45), died in the fire.

Rajesh and his father are co-owners of Shiva Cosmetics. The injured are Chandan (41) and Lalit Kumar (40), both welding labours.

They have been admitted at the SGM Hospital. Preliminary probe reveals that the fire broke out owing to suspected electrical short circuit. Due to inflammable substances present inside the unit, the fire spread rapidly.

The labourers were allegedly not given proper safety equipments, said sources. The jurisdictional police has registered a case under Sections 285, 337, and 304A of the IPC and is probing further.
