In a shocking incident involving school kids, a 13-year-old girl poisoned her classmate with mosquito repellent in a fit of jealousy over her exams.

According to police and the local media in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, the student mixed the poison into rival’s water bottle and then watched her drink it.

Police say she was angry over being beaten by her victim in a school test.

The victim began vomiting and was rushed to hospital where her condition is said to be stable.

The girl later tried to commit suicide by the same method fearing that she will get caught and is being treated in the hospital.

According to a report published in The Daily Mail, hospital spokesperson Dr Sudhir Singh said that the girl is under control

Police investigating the case say the poisoner was caught when police viewed CCTV footage from the classroom's security camera.

Police spokesman Bhupendra Singh explained that after drinking the water the girl felt uneasy and the school informed her parents who took her to a hospital.

He further added that the CCTV footage of the classroom showed the girl pouring the mosquito repellent.

The victim told police she believes her classmate was jealous of her exam marks.
